Cleaning and caring for your jewelry

In addition to maintaining your jewelry’s natural shine, proper cleaning and care can go a long way to protecting your jewelry so you can enjoy it for a long time.
  • Have a jeweler clean and inspect your jewelry at least annually, looking for loose settings, faulty links, worn prongs, etc. Ask your jeweler for tips on how to clean your personal jewelry at home between visits.
  • Clean your jewelry at home frequently to avoid dirt buildup, which may hasten wear.
  • A prong that is loose, worn, or catches on fabric may lead to a lost diamond.  If you suspect a problem, have your jeweler check the item immediately.
  • When not wearing your jewelry, place each item in a separate soft compartment or container.  If cluttered together, jewelry can become scratched.
  • Avoid heavy blows to your diamond. Even though diamonds are among the hardest of all materials, they can chip if struck at the right angle. Don’t risk a damaged engagement ring!
  • Be sure to get jewelry insurance to assure that you can replace it if you experience jewelry theft, loss or jewelry damage beyond
